Belize

This Caribbean jewel, called ‘Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret’, is all about the finest diving and snorkeling, jungle adventures, cascading waterfalls to cool off in, and more Mayan temples than you can count. The barrier reef (the 2nd largest in the world) runs the length of the country’s coast with 450 delightfully picturesque atolls (Cayes) that wave their palm fronds at you. The tallest building in all of Belize is a Mayan temple, and not one fast food chain outlet exists in the country. Come and visit the world’s only Jaguar sanctuary, check out its 900 Mayan sites, and hang with the friendly locals who think swimming in the ocean on Good Friday is bad luck!

Peak Season Description:
The perfect time to explore the jungles and the Mayan sites, and indulge in adventure activities or just relax on the many beaches. The warm dry days continue until April and then the humidity starts to rise in May. Early planning is essential, especially for Easter, a very popular holiday time in Belize.
Shoulder Season Description:
The rainy season is here, but not the relentless downpour that comes later in the year. Expect afternoon and night showers. June is also lobster season so restaurants will need prior booking. November is the post-rainy season when humidity drops and activities start up again with vigor, so you will still need to book in advance.
Low Season Description:
Heavy rains, excessive humidity and chances of hurricanes make this an overall quiet time. Many jungle lodges will close for maintenance and trails become impassable; if this is the only time you can travel, check first with your operator.

When to go description:
With very few exceptions, there is always a good time to visit Belize at any time of the year. Low seasons can work best for those wishing lesser crowds and better prices. A shoulder season is often the best time to visit, weather and accommodation-wise. Conversely, the peak season can be the most crowded and expensive times of the year.
