  • Itinerary Summary

    Day 1-3 : Camp Kalahari, Makgadikgadi Pans

    On arrival in Maun you will be met by our company representative and transferred onto a light aircraft for a 50 min flight to Camp Kalahari, a luxurious camp deep in the Kalahari.
     

    Two full days to explore this extraordinary area – the largest salt pan complex in the world.  Rare desert adapted species, habituated meerkats, walks with the San bushmen and giant ancient baobabs.

    Accommodation: Luxury Camping

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Day 4-7 : Moremi Mobile Private Tented Camp

    A light aircraft flight to the Moremi, one of Botswana’s top wildlife destinations. From your private camp you will venture out in open topped 4 x4 safari vehicles in search of all the wildlife you have dreamt of seeing in this great continent. The Moremi is renowned for huge herds of elephant and buffalo and some of the highest density of predators to be found anywhere – lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
     
    Three full days to enjoy this beautiful, wild area.  After two nights your camp will be broken down and moved to another exquisite area of the Moremi.

    Day 8-11 : Okavango Boat Safari

    A short flight from the Moremi to deep in the Okavango Delta, a vast inland waterway of meandering channels, extensive floodplains and secret lagoons.
     
    You will camp out in private camps on remote islands and from there you will have three full days to explore this wonderland by boat, finding palm fringed islands to then explore on foot. This is big game country.

    Again after two nights your camp will be broken down and moved to another exquisite area of the Okavango.

    Day 12-14 : Selinda Explorers Walking Safari

    On the northern border of Botswana there is another incredible wildlife area – the Selinda. From the permanent Selinda Explorers Camp you will have two full days to track on foot, some of the great herds of Africa and to canoe the annual floods of the Selinda Spillway. Truly one of the wildest places to be found.

Climate

Winter May-August when dry and cool.
Summer  September-April with rains December-March but average only 400mm per annum. Vegetation: Kalahari thorn bush, open grasslands, empty salt pans, Delta, riverine, mopane woodlands.
Wildlife: All of Africa’s!

Visas, Travel Documents and Special Permits

Some nationalities require visas. When entering Botswana each visitor is given an entry visa valid for the length of your stay.

Immunizations / Medical Requirements

Although there are no specific requirements with regard to vaccinations, each visitor should check with their local doctor at home and follow the advice accordingly.  This should include anti malaria cover even though Botswana is a low risk area.

 
Light weight riding helmets are compulsory for all children and for adults must be worn within the requirements of your insurance cover.  Adults riding without helmets do so at their own risk and the company cannot be held responsible for any injuries sustained.

Recommended Packing List
  • Long trousers. 
  • Socks – several pairs
  • Long sleeved collared shirts in neutral bush colours
  • Buff / bandana (to protect face and neck from sun and dust).
  • Light weight warm fleece or jacket
  • Lightweight waterproof windbreaker jacket
  • Dark sunglasses on a string
  • Underwear
  • Bum bag / Waist pouch to carry lip balm, suncream, small camera and extra batteries and memory card                       
  • Torch – head torch is recommended
  • Small lightweight binoculars
  • Camera with battery charging equipment, spare batteries and memory cards
  • Broad brimmed sunhat (for when not riding)
  • Layers: Cotton long and short sleeved tshirts, shorts, cotton trousers, sarong and bathing costume, comfortable sleepwear according to the season (tracksuit recommended for winter months), woollen beanie and gloves
  • Footwear:  flip flops, closed shoes/ boots for around the camp
  • Sunblock, insect repellent, lip salve, personal medication, personal toiletries
