    Day 1 : Mataveri Airport – Hangaroa Village

    Arrival at the Mataveri airport from Santiago/Papeete.
     

    Meet your driver and take an orientation tour; visit the town of Hangaroa before arriving at the hotel. Enjoy your time at leisure by the swimming pool or get a complimentary massage or a complimentary guided walking tour.

    Day 2 : Hangaroa – Anakena

    After breakfast, enjoy a full day tour - the arrival of Hotu Matu’a.
     

    Experience a day getting to know about great legends following the past of Rapa Nui. Delve into the historic past of the Ariki king Hotu Matu’a – not only from his place of disembarkment to his tomb, but also during the following 700 years of settlement, with all the efforts that went in the production of the Moai (statues).
     

    Enjoy a picnic lunch during the tour.

    Day 3 : Hangaroa

    After breakfast, take a morning tour - The power of the Birdman.
     

    When the Moai and Ahu were destroyed and chaos was imminent, a new order arose: the reign of the Birdmen. Visit the sites of the annual ceremonies, and learn about how unrivalled competitions of physical dexterity and strength gave power to the competitors to be able to obtain the first egg of the Manutara. Get to know the core of Rapa Nui’s pre-history.

    Afternoon excursion - Looking towards the stars.
     

    During the last period of the Moai era (the most important of Rapa Nui’s culture), the descendants of the Polynesian navigators turned their eyes toward the sky. We will take you to the archaeological sites that tell us of the connections between the islanders and the universe. Ahu (altars) and Moai (statues) prove the magnificent development of megalithic constructions with astronomical orientation.

Upon arrival in Santiago de Chile for the first time, citizens from specific countries must pay the ‘reciprocity fee’ before passing the international police.  This amount must be paid at the international airport via Cash or Credit Cards (Traveller’s cheques are not accepted).

Other useful tips

Travel light, but pack sturdy outdoor hiking boots. Take comfortable, layered clothing such as fleeces, t-shirts, swimming gear, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Include an outdoor warm top for cold nights and cold altitudes as well as a warm hat and gloves. Lip balm, sun-screen and sun glasses.
