    Day 01 : Arrival in San Jose

    On arrival at the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) on of our representatives will meet and greet you and provide you with all the necessary documentation that you will need during your vacation, such as day by day itinerary, contact information and phone numbers for assistance. Then, you will be transferred to Grano de Oro hotel in San José, which is approximately 20 minutes away -driving distance-.

    Considered a true oasis, right in the heart of the city, Hotel Grano de Oro still retains its tropical Victorian style, with small sources of water, Costa Rican art pieces, beautiful gardens with tropical flowers and best of all, his warmth service, which will make you feel, a hospitality experience since your arrival.

    Day 02 : San Jose to Pacaure

    Early in the morning, you will be driven to the Pacuare River for a day of adventure and adrenaline. A professional guides and the right equipment will be waiting upon your arrival to the river; after some safety instructions, you will start on this incredible rafting journey. In the water, you will experience the exhilaration of riding the waves on this wild and scenic river, which passes through scenic canyons where crystal clear waterfalls plummet down into the rapidly coursing river below. Tall trees and dense green vegetation come right down to the water’s edge. The thick undergrowth of this protected area provides shelter for a variety tropical animals and birds, including some endangered species. When you arrive at the Pacuare Lodge, you will find a unique jungle oasis nestled in a most remarkable setting. Modern wooden bungalows with thatched palm roofs are spaced out beneath the trees, providing both privacy and serenity.     Day 03 : Pacaure

    Day at leisure to enjoy the scenic beauty of the natural surrounds of the Pacuare River and the optional activities offered at the lodge.     Day 04 : Pacaure to Turrialba

    In the morning, you will be awakened by a harmonious melody created by the sound of the river rushing by and the sweet songs of the tropical birds from the thick of the forest. After a delicious buffet breakfast, you will launch the rafts again for the second day of the river expedition. Rafting becomes even more thrilling as you begin to use the skills and experience gained the day before. You may stop to explore side streams that lead to striking waterfalls and pools with a natural waterslide that tempts you to jump right in. Lunch will be served along the river, and when reaching the take out, you can change into dry clothes. After that you will receive your rental car to continue the journey on your own to Casa Turire hotel located in Turrialba, (about one hour driving), which is a rural countryside zone, a quiet town, but very popular because of its good quality of coffee plantations and sugar cane fields that shows part of their culture; this is a pretty hotel that recalls the gracious charm of a colonial plantation home, this beautiful estate is enfolded by the Angostura Lake with the imposing presence of the Turrialba Mountains that creates a dramatic backdrop.

    Day 05 : Turriabla to Perez Zeledon

    Today you will continue to Perez Zeledón where you will stay for the next two nights at Alta Gracia Boutique Hacienda, (four hours driving) located over 7,000 ft. just surrounding Chirripo which is the highest mountain in the country.     Today you will drive to Puerto Jimenez in South Pacific Coast where you will give back the rental car. You will stay the next three nights at Playa Cativo, the lodge’s staff will be awaiting you in order to take you on their boat and from there travel approximate 45 minutes in the Dulce Gulf until reaching the property.     This day you will take the boat ride to back to Puerto Jimenez where you will pick up the rental car to continue your journey to Dominical area where is located Ballena National Marine Park; it is a small park that protects sandy and pebbles beaches, mangroves, cliffs islands and a coral reef. There is a marine platform that has formed in front of the park; it is connected to mainland via a sandy bridge and can be visited at low tide. Looking the platform from the air, it looks like a whale’s tale. Whales and dolphins are common close to the shore because of the warm waters that create the perfect ecosystem for these amazing animals during migration for mating or giving birth.     Day 13 : Manuel Antonio

    Today you will have the day by your own to explore the area of Manuel Antonio and visit the beach, enjoy the sun or just walk around. Manuel Antonio and Quepos (local town) offer you an endless variety of one day tours.

    We suggest to visit Manuel Antonio National Park which contains a charming combination of exuberant tropical forest and gorgeous beaches with clear waters. Its habitants are beach vegetation, lagoons, mangrove swamps, 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds. You will observe several species of monkeys, iguanas, birds and possibly even the three-toed sloth. After the internal hike at the park, if you would like, you can stay on your own even more time to relax, enjoy the beach and sunbathe. You will spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Climate

Costa Rica’s climate is marked by two distinct seasons: dry season (Dec.-April) and the wet season (May-Nov.). The average daily temperatures range between 70 and 80 degrees.

 

It is home to vast array of plants and trees, every species highly adapted to the ecosystems within which they reside. The foliage is accented by brightly coloured flowers and lush green trees.

 

Costa Rica boasts a profusion of zoological riches, and rightfully so. The National Institute of Biodiversity, in an attempt to identify every plant, animal and insect species, has approximated that within the borders of this small isthmus at least one million species exist.

Visas, Travel Documents and Special Permits

Further, most countries require travelers to have a passport that is valid from at least 6 months from the day of entry into the country, so please confirm that you satisfy your destination country or countries passport, visa and medical (if any) requirements well in advance of your trip.
