  • Itinerary Summary

    Day 01 : Arrival in La Paz

    On arrival, you will be picked up at La Paz airport and transferred to the hotel in La Paz. In the evening meet the tour guide for a short presentation and briefing.

    Day 02 : La Paz

    Free day to relax or to explore La Paz. You may choose an optional excursion, which includes a visit to National Park Espiritu Santo Island, swimming with Whale Sharks, or a visit to the reptile shelter

    Day 03 : La Paz to Loreto

    Early departure to the port of López Mateos on Magdalena Bay for a one-hour whale watching excursion. In the afternoon, we continue towards Loreto with stops at Baja’s own “Monument Valley” and at the spectacular drop-off of the Sierra de la Giganta into the Sea of Cortez. In Loreto transfer to our downtown hotel.

    Day 04 : Loreto o San Ignacio

    After breakfast you have an early departure from Loreto to San Ignacio. Diverse nature exploration hikes take us through dry river beds to explore in detail the different plant life inside and outside the river beds.

    The valley El Rosario features giant column cacti and here we will admire both the oldest and the tallest specimen on our route. A 45-minute walk on volcanic cobblestones takes us to a beautiful viewpoint of our next destination: The Conception Bay, where we spend time at one of its spectacular beaches.

    A little further north you will see the historic mining town of French origin Santa Rosalía where we visit the most outstanding attractions such as the metal church designed by Gustav Eiffel.

    Later on, a hike in the beautiful warm afternoon light through the Sonora Vegetation of the Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve, against the backdrop of Tres Vírgenes volcanoes, is the last highlight before reaching the picturesque small town of San Ignacio.

    Day 05 : San Ignacio

    Go on an excursion to San Ignacio Lagoon, followed by a whale watching trip by boat.

    Day 06 : San Ignacio

    Visit Sierra San Francisco and discover a stunning canyon landscape, endemic plants and the prehistoric rock art.  Return to San Ignacio.

    Day 07 : San Ignacio

    Early departure to Guerrero Negro. En route to the wharf you will enjoy an interesting tour of the world’s largest “open sky” salt works before we embark on our second 2-hour whale watching trip on Laguna Ojo de Liebre (Scammon`s Lagoon). Afterwards, on the way back to town, make short stops at the migrating dunes and at a bird reserve.

    Day 08 : San Ignacio to Loreto

    Return to Loreto with another awesome hike, this time right at the foot of the Tres Virgenes volcano. In the early afternoon we will visit the oasis Mulegé with its Jesuit mission church dating from 1705 and its panoramic viewpoint over the entire palm oasis from where it is even possible to marvel at the frigate birds’ strange way of drinking fresh water.

    Day 09 : Loreto

    Free day to relax or to explore Loreto or you may choose an optional excursion, such as a trip to Isla Coronado, In Search of Blue Whales or the Oasis & Mission of San Javier.

    Day 10 : Loreto

    In the morning, a short walking tour of Loreto with visit to the mission church and the mission museum. Departure before noon back to La Paz.

    Day 11 : Loreto

    The last day begins with an excursion to an area considered La Paz’ landmark, particularly due to a rock formation known as the “Mushroom”. Balandra is a shallow ocean inlet between two mountain ridges featuring a series of stunning secluded beaches and bays surrounded by mangroves. We take you on a little known path right along the edge between mountain, desert and mangroves to an otherwise inaccessible beach. On this nature interpretation hike you are likely to observe some of the many bird species native to the area. From a hill right by the lagoon you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the panorama. We will also visit Tecolote beach, which is beautiful in a different way. Tecolote beach is an endless, wide strand ideal for swimming and relaxing as well as the perfect spot to enjoy a platter of fish tacos, a typical local dish, in a beach restaurant.

    Day 12 : Departure from La Paz

    After breakfast you are transferred from Hotel Catedral to La Paz airport.
