  • Itinerary Summary

Day 1 : Arrive GVA, MXP or ZRH Zurich International Airport

Your driver will be waiting for you just outside of baggage claim, VIP transfer to Zermatt (3-4h) or, weather

    permitting heli-transfer Zermatt - GVA (50mins)

Check-in at the Cervo 5*, rest & recuperate at the Spa, or stretch your legs on a stroll through the picturesque

historic center of Zermatt - the barns, stores, stables and old houses built between the 16th and 18th are known

as the “Hinterdorf” (optional private guided tour).

Dinner at Le Gitan, meat and market-fresh fish specialties grilled over a wood fire. The local’s favorite and our

    favorite too!

    Overnight Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

Accommodation: Overnight Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

Day 2 : Warm up day Zermatt

Warm-up ski day. Ski Zermatt, lift-accessed backcountry on Gornergrat / Stockhorn, a leisurely start with a ride

on the Gornergrat cog railway, climbing nearly 5000ft to the Gornergrat summit at 3,089 m (10,135 ft). Enjoy the

stunning view of twenty-nine 4000 meter peaks and their surrounding glaciers. On-slope lunch in Findeln at Franz

& Heidi’s, housed in an authentic Walser house, built of larch timber blackened by the sun, with a striking view of

the Matterhorn. Don’t miss the warm Apfel Strudel with house made cinnamon ice cream and their extensive

Italian wine list (that constitutes lunch, doesn’t it?)

Dinner & overnight Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

    Accommodation: Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

Day 3 : Ski day Zermatt

Morning guided skiing on Gornergrat/Rothorn, and up to Blauherd for a “civilized lunch” at Flühalp 2606m, highaltitude

mountain hut and favorite restaurant of the Zermatt mountain guides and locals. The manager Reinhart

will insist on saying Auf Wiedersehen with a shot of schnapps from his Austrian homeland, just don’t linger for too

many before the descent back to town!

Afternoon sledding on Rotenboden luge piste (optional - train serviced groomed toboggan track at altitude), and/

or visit to the Zermatt Matterhorn Museum, which shares the fascinating story of Zermatt’s development from a

village of mountain farmers to a world-famous alpine resort. Original houses and interiors, and recreations of the

world of the inhabitants and of former alpine explorers, bring the subject vividly to life. The museum also honors

the record-breaking achievements of mountaineers on the surrounding 4,000-metre peaks.

Dinner & overnight Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

    Accommodation: Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

Day 4 : Italy Day, Ski Zermatt / Cervinia.

Cross the border into Italy for a taste of la Dolce Vita, a day of skiing on the south facing, sun-baked slopes of

Cervinia. The wide groomed runs from Testa Grigia are some longest in Europe - perfect for practicing smooth

carving and working up an appetite for an Italian lunch

Lunch at les Neiges D’Antan, which translates to “the snows of yesteryear”, a fitting description of the feel of this

cozy oasis located just below the resort center of Cervinia, in a private location surrounded by woodlands and

imposing peaks. Lunch of authentic Valle D’Aostan specialties; house smoked trout, rabbit liver paté, la Seupa a

la Valpellinentze (Aostan peasant soup gratinéed with Fontina cheese), chestnut gnocchi, braised meats with

whole meal polenta, and an extensive selection of local wines.

Dinner & overnight Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

    Accommodation: Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

Day 5 : Zermatt Glacier Skiing

Guided skiing Zermatt, from the Klein Matterhorn 3,883m (12,740 ft), the highest aerial tram in the Alps. Possible

run down the Unter Theodul Glacier, introduction to moderate off-piste glacier skiing. Experience the wild and

extraordinarily beautiful Gornerglacier in the safe hands of a licensed UIAGM mountain guide. An adventure run

that consists of a descent on a low-angle glacier, a short rappel through the “tongue” (end) of the glacier, and

culminates with a walk across the H.ngebrückenweg Furi (suspension bridge), 90m above the Gornerschluct

    Gorge.

Lunch at Blatten Restaurant, once a “Maiensäss”, a high settlement with lush pastures, where every year in early

summer, the farmers of Zermatt moved with their livestock. Here the milk was made into cheese, or carried daily

down to the village; there are still a few farmers in the Maiensass continuing with this nomadic tradition. Today,

this hamlet located at 1,740 m, with its old wooden houses and pretty chapel from 1640, is home to the most

authentic restaurant on the hill, Restaurant Blatten. A perfect spot to try one of the local Walliser dishes; fondue,

kaseschnitte (bread, melted cheese, ham and egg) or the house specialty Pilzsuppe (mushroom soup covered

    with puff pastry).

Spa afternoon followed by dinner and a movie at the Vernissage, a unique club that is part cinema, art gallery, bar

& restaurant, as conceived by local artist and dreamer Heinz Julen.

    Overnight Cervo Hotel 5*, Zermatt

    Day 6 : Heli flight & Cervinia

Scenic heli flight around the Matterhorn, landing on the Plateau Rosa (border with Italy), off-piste or on piste run

to Cervinia for a fantastic Italian on-mountain lunch at Chalet Etoile, run by famous Swedish Chef Ulla di Frassy

and her family for more than 40 years. Dinner at the Whymper Stube in the Monte Rosa Hotel, it was here that

Whymper and his party plotted their party’s expedition up the Matterhorn. Specialties include the Whymper

Fleischfondue - filet of beef cooked in broth (Chinoise) or hot oil (Bourguignonne), or the Käsefondue Hausartcheese

Tete de Valpelline. 2000m descent on the final leg of the Haute Route, under the north face of the Matterhorn.

Finish the day at Zum See, tiny hameau above town, some of the best on-mountain dining in the world, served in

a little courtyard amongst chalets from the 1700’s.
